1. How much will an alarm system cost?
The installation of a burglary or fire system has many variables. We have a wide range of options to choose from. Each home is unique, for these reasons we tailor each estimate to suit individual needs. We recommend setting an appointment for a free quote in order to provide you with the most accurate estimate.
2. Can I upgrade my system at a later date?
Yes, most alarm systems installed by San Marino Security Systems can be upgraded as your needs grow. When reactivating any system we ensure all parts (i.e., sensors, wiring, keypads, etc) are in working order to avoid false alarms. Please make sure to make an appointment so a consultant can go over your system with you.
3. I heard your system is proprietary, is that true?
Despite what you may be hearing from our competitors, we DO NOT sell proprietary systems. We sell DMP (Digital Monitoring Products) which is sold by many dealers in the Southern California area. You will always have complete control over your system. If for any reason you no longer desire our services we will immediately unlock your panel at no charge to you. If you would like to discuss this further please call our office.
4. Should my system be monitored?
Yes, in order to provide you with the best possible security, we recommend your system be monitored. Being monitored means that your system is backed by a team of highly skilled professionals, ready to respond at the first sign of any alarm activity. A security system works as a deterrent to losing property and endangering your family. Most burglars will attempt to burglarize an unprotected home. The downside of not being monitored is that in the event of an actual burglary, the police will not be notified, therefore putting you, your family, and your property in danger.

Most companies will install a system at an extremely cheap price, but then gouge you for service calls or tie you into a lengthy contract. In addition, with San Marino Security Systems, you own your system. If you move, we simply pull the system for you and reinstall it in your new home.
10. Can I get a discount on my insurance if I get an alarm system?
Yes. Insurance companies also realize the lower risk of exposure for homes equipped with a monitored alarm system. Many insurance companies offer discounts of up to 20% if you install a monitored alarm or activate a current alarm system. Make sure to contact our office so we may supply you with a Certificate providing your insurance company with the information they need to apply your discount.
11. What happens if my phone lines are cut?
Most alarm systems use a telephone line to transmit signals to the central station. If your alarm is reliant upon only telephone line transmission, although the siren or bell will ring, no signals will be sent to the central station. We have alternative back up systems such as, Wireless Cellular Radio and Internet Backup, which transmit signals regardless of your phone line being cut. Contact the office at (626) 285-7778 for more information.
I'm thinking about cancelling my phone line, what are my options?
If your security system is tied in through your phone line and you no longer which to keep service with your phone provider we have alternative options for you. We can install an internet module or a cellular radio which will no longer require a phone line connection. Please contact the office for pricing or to see if your system is compatible for these upgrades.
